Reviewing Technical Performance Assessment of other surgeons
Up to 20 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ for completing all 3 stages.
This performance improvement educational program is designed for surgeons of all specialties who conduct minimally invasive or open surgeries.
This program is designed to provide surgeons with performance-based practice by submitting videos of dry-lab, simulation, or animate surgery. The videos will be evaluated using the validated tools listed below. Learners will review performance videos that allow them to evaluate practices among surgeries using the same surgical method (i.e. robotic or laparoscopic).
- Global Evaluative Assessment of Robotic Skills (GEARS)
- Global Operative Assessment of Laparoscopic Skills (GOALS)
- Objective Structured Assessment of Technical Skills (OSATS)
- Robotic Objective Structured Assessment of Technical Skills (ROSATS)
Learners will rate performance videos that allow them to evaluate practices among surgeries using the same surgical method so they can improve their performance in future surgeries.
After submitting videos for assessment and reviewing their performance report, participants will be able to:
- Describe the performance domains for their surgical method
- Identify both their strongest and weakest performance domains
- Analyze their surgical performance against that of other surgeons
- Recognize the differences among technical skills domains between their performance video and that of an expert surgeon
- Re-evaluate their performance
