AdventHealth’s (fka Adventist Health System) Patient Safety Organization Selects C-SATS to Provide Continuous Quality Improvement in Robotic Surgery

C-SATS (www.csats.com), a venture-backed health care technology company on a mission to empower the nation’s healthcare institutions so they can appraise and facilitate surgical performance improvement accurately and objectively, today announced that Adventist Health System’s federally listed Patient Safety Organization, Quality Circle for Healthcare, will deploy its cutting-edge solution for continuous quality improvement in the area of robotic surgery in seven hospitals.

With 46 hospital campuses, nearly 8,300 licensed beds in 10 states and more than 4.7 million patients annually, Adventist Health System believes the benefits of using C-SATS to help assess and improve robotic surgical performance via simulation curriculum, telementoring and recommended peer group videos will yield measurable and sustainable improvements in both surgical performance and patient safety.

“We’re honored to be working with Adventist Health System,” said Derek Streat, CEO of C-SATS. As evidenced by their investment in these tools, our organizations are aligned in our laser focus on quality and patient safety which will make for a great partnership that ultimately benefits patients.”

Historically, it’s been challenging for health care systems to develop supporting infrastructure to evaluate technical skills in robotic surgery. C-SATS enables health care institutions to embrace a cost-effective platform so that robotic surgeons can receive appraisals and opportunities for continued learning.

“C-SATS offers surgeons a valid and objective evaluation tool combined with an improvement approach that’s tailored to their individual performance. It’s not one-size-fits-all, and I believe that the personalized feedback helps one continually improve. This approach -- and a more robust appraisal of surgical competency -- is valuable in health care across the board,” said Dr. Stephen Knych, vice president of clinical effectiveness and chief quality and patient safety officer for Adventist Health System.
